👋 Hi {{first_name}},
If you are working in a corporate org, I imagine you are counting your blessings to get the 2027 hiring budget you need in these following weeks.
At the same time, I also reckon your org leaders are putting together a business plan for marketing and ad spend to get your org customers and partners, and then a PR agency to help your leaders spread the word.
I know what you are going through.
And I hate the fact that I have been in that room for the last 2 decades, and I had no compelling evidence to fold all 3 costs (hiring, marketing, and PR) into one compelling item in your P&L:
Hiring expert talent.
So here’s what I did about it.

Introducing Des Brown
Des Brown runs a cohort of newsletter businesses, namely Email Advice in Your Inbox, and CrossLetter, to name a few. He also runs a marketing agency, where he works with many orgs to help them activate their own brand newsletters.
Des and I have been wanting to collaborate for months now, and we struck a common chord, when I was telling him the challenges a hiring leader in a big org goes through, while hiring expert talent.
He suggested I should come over and talk about it in his newsletter.
It only took a few months to get there, but this weekend, we launched it as a guest piece on Email Advice in Your Inbox titled:
Enterprises Are Paying 3x for Brand Building
I build the case for how an org building a hiring budget in 2027 could be smarter about the talent they hire, and mobilize their expertise into making their marketing and brand building activities to work together, not in siloed teams.
I also bring along expert opinions from two experts, whose work I admire and respect deeply:
Kaleigh Moore’s perspective from an AI Search standpoint, who runs the ‘Context Window’ newsletter
Taylor Cromwell More’s perspective from a creator economy standpoint for employee-generated content (EGC), with the ‘Creator Diaries’ newsletter
If you are building the case for hiring experts in 2027, I hope you read through this article, to build a case for marketing and PR to pay back multi-fold for the hiring budget you are seeking.
Better still, pass this article to your leaders, so they understand it is written from the lived experience by someone who has lived on both sides of the boardroom, and who understands how to make the leap of faith work for them.
