ICYMI, the newsletter-first local media network 6AM City acquired the AI-driven daily newsletter Good Daily this week for an undisclosed sum.
Does that mean the AI-powered newsletter era is here? We don’t need human writers and editors anymore? Not exactly.
Before this year started, I had a long view that even if AI took over all human-related tasks, I would reserve high-leverage activities like writing for my time, while outsourcing anything that took away from it to AI.
But 2025 continues to test that thesis vigorously with each passing month. And the 6AM City announcement marks a tipping point for me.
I am aware that a lot of publishers, especially with a daily cadence, use AI curation for compiling most of their newsletter content and copy. And I am beginning to form a new belief that although I may not leave the entire newsletter copy to AI, but I will test outsourcing the research completely and see how well it holds up.
